Getting Started with Reclavio

Follow this guide to configure your AI agent, activate the storefront widget, and start recovering lost revenue.

1Activate the Reclavio Widget

Reclavio uses a lightweight "App Embed" to run on your store without slowing it down. This must be enabled for the agent to appear.

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.
  2. Go to Online Store > Themes.
  3. Click Customize on your current/live theme.
  4. Click the App embeds icon (the third icon down on the left sidebar).
  5. Find Reclavio Widget and toggle the switch to ON.
  6. Click Save in the top right corner.

Tip: If you don't see the widget immediately, ensure "Shadow Mode" is enabled in your Reclavio Settings so you can test it without exposing it to all customers yet.

2How Discounts Work (Automated)

You do not need to create discount codes manually. Reclavio automates this for you to prevent abuse and leakage.

  • Automatic Configuration: The app automatically creates hidden "Price Rules" in your Shopify Admin as needed for your active offers (e.g., AI_AGENT_CUSTOM_PERCENT).
  • Unique Codes: When the agent negotiates with a customer, it generates a unique, single-use code (e.g., SAVE5-X9Z2) for that session.
  • Security: These codes are single-use and short-lived (typically expiring within ~2 hours), preventing widespread sharing on coupon sites.

Important: Do not delete the AI_AGENT_... price rules in your Shopify Discounts section, or the agent will be unable to generate codes.

3Configure Store Policies

The AI agent reads your store's policies to answer customer questions about shipping times and returns accurately.

  1. Go to Shopify Admin > Settings > Policies.
  2. Ensure your Shipping Policy and Return Policy are filled out.
  3. The agent will automatically incorporate this information into its responses (e.g., "We offer a 30-day return policy...").

4Create Your First Rule

"Intervention Rules" tell the AI when to engage a customer. Be strategic to protect your margins.

  1. Go to the Rules Engine tab in Reclavio.
  2. Click Create Rule.
  3. Recommended First Rule:
    • Condition: Cart Value is at least $50 (or your average order value).
    • Action: Offer Free Shipping.
  4. This ensures you aren't giving away margin on low-value orders that might not be profitable.

5Configure the Offer Ladder (Optional)

The Offer Ladder provides instant, tiered discounts when shoppers click "Check for savings" — no AI chat required.

Rules vs. Offer Ladder: Intervention rules trigger the AI chat agent for negotiation. The Offer Ladder instantly shows a discount based on cart value — great for shoppers who want a quick deal without conversation.

  1. Go to Settings and scroll to the Offer Ladder section.
  2. Click Apply Defaults to start with recommended tiers, or add custom steps.
  3. Example configuration:
    • Cart ≥ $50 → Free Shipping
    • Cart ≥ $75 → 5% Off
    • Cart ≥ $100 → 10% Off
  4. Set guardrails like Max Discount % and Cooldown Days to protect margins.
  5. Toggle on and save — offers appear instantly for eligible carts.

6Test with the Simulator

Before going live, you can test exactly how the agent will behave.

  1. Go to the Simulator tab.
  2. Load a sample cart or enter a custom cart value.
  3. Chat with the agent as if you were a customer. Try asking for a discount or inquiring about shipping.
  4. Verify that the agent adheres to the negotiation limits (e.g., it shouldn't offer 10% off immediately if the margin doesn't support it).

7Go Live

Once you are comfortable with the setup:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Toggle Shadow Mode to OFF.
  3. Your agent is now live and will actively engage real customers who are at risk of abandoning their carts!

Pro Tips for Success

Monitor "Opportunities (Shadow)"

Check your Dashboard to see the at-risk cart value — sessions where the AI could have intervened. This helps you evaluate Shadow Mode's potential before going live.

Target High-Intent Shoppers

Don't trigger the agent for every single visitor. Use rules to target high-intent, high-value shoppers.

Trust the Score

Our AI scores every cart for "Abandonment Probability." The agent prioritizes customers who actually need a nudge, rather than annoying those who were going to buy anyway.
